Who: Fur Keeps Animal Rescue Inc. was founded by holistic veterinarian Debra Rykoff, DVM in 1999, Fur Keeps has saved hundreds of animals (primarily horses, cats, and dogs) that have been rescued from kill shelters or other dire situations. These animals are rehabilitated and then placed into loving forever homes.
What: Please wear grubby clothing that you aren’t afraid to get dirty, this rescue is located on a farm and we will be working in the barn and other areas helping out where we can. We will be separated into groups., ½ of our time there we will be working cleaning cages and doing work necessary around the farm. The other ½ of the time we will get to do the fun stuff like walking dogs and playing with the animals. (We won’t be working with the horses as the rescue does not want to take on the additional liability of volunteers working with the large animals).
Application: The rescue requires all of their volunteers to complete an application. It has been attached here for your child to complete. If adults are going to volunteer they will need to complete the application as well. You DO NOT need to submit this via e-mail please bring a copy of the completed document with you that day.
Donations: Fur Keeps is a nonprofit rescue that works on public donations. They are always in need, if you would like to make a donation outside of your volunteer time below is a list of daily needs, please feel free to bring these items with you:
